From high school halls to the alter, Maria & Jamie’s love story started back in high school and their wedding day was filled with personal details that were nods to the story they’ve been writing together for years.
The couple had a late spring wedding at Windows on the River-the venue was just one detail that was meaningful as it is located just one minute from their apartment! The West Bank of The Flats has become home for Maria & Jamie and their wedding day gave them the chance to celebrate that home with nearly 300 of their favorite people.
“We really got to get married ‘at home’ and share our home with 300 of our amazing-and big-families and friend groups!” Maria shared.
One of the couple’s biggest must-haves for the day was their cocktail hour in the aquarium. And honestly, we love a wedding detail that is completely, unapologetically you. Jamie is a huge fan of the movie Jaws, so naturally, getting to celebrate surrounded by the fish was a dream for them. The aquarium also gave the couple a chance to incorporate their love of the city and their home into another part of the celebration. It was a unique spot for guests, too! What a fun way to see the city.
Another personal detail: they took portraits throughout their neighborhood, including on the Superior Viaduct-the very spot where Jamie proposed. What could be more meaningful than taking wedding photos in the places that have been part of your story all along?
Black and white may be a classic wedding color palette, but for Maria & Jamie, it was an intentional choice. The couple works in the music industry and regularly dresses in head-to-toe black, both for business and everyday life. Even the morning of the wedding included listening to alt-rock and metal hits while getting ready. So when it came to their wedding design, an all-black wedding party felt like the most natural choice. The couple paired the timeless palette with florals featuring black accents, including stunning black poppy anemones. The men wore suits from Rondinelli Tuxedo, one of Cleveland’s go-to spots for men’s wedding attire. Their team makes the fitting process seamless, helping every member of the wedding party look and feel their best for the big day. We love how everything down to the color palette was a reflection of them.
One of our favorite details of the day happened during the couple’s first look and it was so unique. Maria surprised Jamie with a game of the classic game Don’t Break the Ice. A moment representing years of memories and a moment to take in the day just the two of them.
They even created custom matchbooks for their guests and dreamed up a signature cocktail inspired by their beloved chihuahua-pug, Bobbie. Because, as Maria put it, “What is a wedding without a little tribute to your pet?” We love to see it!
From their home in the West Bank of The Flats to their engagement spot on the Superior Viaduct, their love of music, their favorite game from high school, and their beloved pup, every detail gave guests another glimpse into who Maria & Jamie are as a couple and that is what the wedding is all about.
