Vows that Wow: Megan & Katherine’s Elliot Wedding Celebration

Our August Vows that Wow is a simply beautiful wedding celebration at The Elliot. Megan and Katherine were so intentional about who they wanted to spend their day with. They put attention to personal details to make sure their guests felt their love and gratitude for celebrating with them.

They had a romantic palette of blush pinks and emerald greens, gorgeous florals, custom jewelry, thoughtful details and a reception intentionally designed around time spent with their closest friends and family, every part of their day felt like a reflection of them. And perhaps the most meaningful detail of all was that this celebration marked one year since the couple privately said ‘I do.’

Megan and Katherine had an intimate private ceremony the year before, making their celebration at The Elliot their first anniversary and their opportunity to finally gather everyone they loved together to celebrate their marriage. Megan shared, “We were able to get the best of both worlds with a small intimate wedding but also have the large event reception!”

From the very beginning, Megan and Katherine knew they wanted their celebration to feel intentional. We love how at The Elliot you can design the layout to match your vision. A mix of round tables and statement-making long tables created an inviting atmosphere, with their closest friends and family gathered around delicious food and heartfelt toasts.

Megan gives great advice to couples, “Everyone will tell you not to sweat the small details but if it is something that is deeply important or personal for you, prioritize what you truly care about because it is your special day and even if others do not notice the details, you will.” Megan and Katherine certainly prioritized the beautiful details that mattered to them.

Lush floral arrangements on the tables of pretty pinks and rich emerald greens brought the color palette to life and the floral-lined staircase at The Elliot created a particularly stunning backdrop.

The couple also incorporated gorgeous custom-designed jewelry, adding another personal touch to their celebration.

Their handmade seating chart was a showstopper in its own right, welcoming guests into a day where every detail had been thoughtfully considered.

They even got to enjoy cocktail hour with their guests in The Elliot’s Rosehip Room and enjoyed a martini bar featuring an assortment of favorites-from dirty martinis to espresso martinis-before heading into the reception. After all, who doesn’t love a martini!? Megan shared, “My favorite memory of the day was walking into the Rosehip Room at the Elliot where all our friends and family were already together. It was the perfect way to jump in and finally start celebrating our marriage with everyone.”

For Katherine, one of the most memorable moments came once the celebration was officially underway, “My favorite memory was when we finally sat down at the table for toasts and dinner and getting to see the full vision of the planning come to life, surrounded by all our friends and family.”

After months of planning, that moment allowed the couple to pause and take in what they had created-a room filled with the people they loved, gathered together to celebrate their marriage.

There is something especially beautiful about that perspective. This wasn’t simply the start of their marriage. It was the moment they finally got to celebrate it with everyone who had been cheering them on.

The wedding cake was another detail that perfectly captured the couple’s aesthetic: classic, yet elegant.

Created by Sugar Shananigans, the three-tier cake featured intricate piping details and was finished with sophisticated black bows. It was a picture-perfect classic wedding cake that felt timeless while still making a statement.

While their celebration was full of gorgeous details, Megan and Katherine also shared advice that goes beyond wedding aesthetics. Katherine emphasized the importance of intentionally protecting their relationship throughout the planning process, “We found it so important to set aside ‘wedding planning time’ and time where we purposely did not discuss wedding details. Wedding planning very easily becomes the topic of every conversation, but it is so important to enjoy everyday life with your partner outside of the stresses of wedding planning.”

It’s advice that feels especially fitting for a couple whose celebration was ultimately centered around their marriage. They knew the wedding was important, but so was making sure they continued enjoying their life together along the way.
