Vows that Wow: Ally & Brian
Each week, we’re honored to feature gorgeous weddings that happen across Cleveland and Northeast Ohio with celebrations that showcase both the creativity of exceptional vendors and the amazing love stories they bring to life. Every so often, a wedding comes up that stops us in our tracks. September’s Vows That Wow is one that holds so many amazing details, we had to share the story of their day with you!
Ally & Brian chose to celebrate their gorgeous day at Basil Place. From the second you step onto the grounds of Basil Place you feel the tranquility and sacredness of the day. There are so many gorgeous views for guests to take in along with photo opportunities for the bride and groom.
Ally and Brian had light blue and white details woven throughout the day creating a charming theme. The couple also incorporated their own A+B monogram from the seating chart to the DJ stand. So much of the decor was created by the bride and her family, Ally shared, “We are a very crafty, creative family, so the fact that so much of the wedding was created by us made it so special and one of a kind.” What a meaningful way to spend time with your family and do something you love together before your big day.
Some of the standout creations were the amazing seating chart, signage, and display honoring their family members who were with them in spirit on their day. Ally & Brian’s family also made the chargers. Ally even created custom coloring pages for the kids. These handmade elements really came together for a gorgeous, cohesive look and felt extra special as they put their heart behind it. As Ally put it, “Pouring your heart into every single detail is what turns a wedding into yours rather than a carbon copy off social media.” And that could be felt throughout the entire day. “Few people realize the time, heart, and quiet effort that go into planning every element. But creating something truly personal makes it all worth it.”
Another unique detail we loved was the bride’s all-white peony bouquet. Choosing to use just one flower made for such a gorgeous and unexpected bouquet-and really, who doesn’t love peonies?! The bridesmaids had a unique floral moment of their own, carrying their bouquets in beautiful floral wicker baskets, one of our favorite trends. Paired with their eclectic mix of blue dresses, the look felt playful, romantic, and perfectly coordinated without being too matchy-matchy.
And we can’t forget about the bride’s dress! The gorgeous floral lace, romantic puff sleeves, and dramatic bow on the back made for a true statement gown. It was fashion-forward, feminine, and completely unforgettable-Ally wore it perfectly.
Outside, guests enjoyed drinks from The Thirsty Filly’s signature truck while taking in a gorgeous sunset. It was the perfect setting for a relaxed cocktail hour before the celebration continued into the reception.
The reception brought all of those thoughtful details together with delicious food from A Taste of Excellence, beautiful decor, and plenty of ways for guests to celebrate. Justin Gamble Photography captured the day in gorgeous, bright imagery, while The GAMBooth gave guests a fun way to make memories of their own.
For dessert, they found a way to incorporate their family heritage as well. Ally grew up baking alongside her Grandma G, so making many of the desserts herself became a meaningful tribute to her memory. Among the treats were pizzelles, an Italian holiday tradition that held special significance for her family. Her mom even gifted the couple a pizzelle iron customized with their new married name, “Schultz,” at her bridal shower. Every pizzelle served at the wedding featured their new name, creating a beautiful connection between family history, tradition, and the beginning of their marriage. What a fun, personalized touch everyone noticed!
Another way Ally honored her family’s history was with her second party dress. She redesigned her mom’s wedding dress allowing her to, “carry a piece of her history with me while wearing a look that felt completely my own.” Beyond creating a custom outfit for the celebration, it became another way to honor her mom and recognize the love and support she had poured into making the wedding so unforgettable.
Of course, we can’t talk about Ally & Brian’s wedding without talking about the sweetest wedding guest, their little pup Lulu. We love how they incorporated Lulu into the day with photos and even on the wedding signage like the bar sign and Trolley Stop sign. Ally’s mom even carried her down the aisle, making her part of one of the most important moments of the day.
A custom pizzelle made from a family tradition. A dress transformed from a mother’s wedding gown. A handmade seating chart. A private first look and personal vows. Every piece told a story. Together, those stories created a wow worthy wedding that was completely true to Ally and Brian.
